On the Way

On the Way is a Christian, non-profit organization centered on love, respect, and an open embrace for every person experiencing homelessness. Our first actions among homeless people in the center of Athens began in the autumn of 2018. The small care package we offered to the people we found on the street was not intended to save them, but to remind them that they are not alone. Soon, mapping the structures and already existing organizations working with our homeless fellow human beings helped us see what was missing so that we could provide it. Today, On the Way, beyond the care package it distributes in the center of Athens on Thursdays, helps its friends organize their public documents and offers them breakfast during the week. It also helps them reintegrate into society by providing housing for one, two, three, or four people for one year in the two social housing units it has, while simultaneously offering them psychological support from a professional psychologist, exploring with them the possibility of finding work, and guiding them in their next steps. The most recent addition to On the Way is a second-hand shop in the Metaxourgeio area, where through your donations and purchases you too contribute to combating homelessness in Athens.
