Law 5275/2026 amended Migration Code provisions concerning former unaccompanied minors.
1. Removal of the three-year education requirement
Previously, eligible adults who entered Greece as unaccompanied minors generally had to complete three years of secondary education in Greece before turning 23 to obtain a ten-year residence permit. The new law removes this requirement for new applications.
2. Transitional provision
Those already attending secondary education on 6 February 2026 remain covered by the previous regime if they meet its conditions and may apply under the transitional provisions.
What do the changes mean?
The framework has changed, while the transitional arrangement protects young people who had already started their education.
