"The Smile of the Child" is a national organization active throughout Greece. It operates 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, standing by every child, offering its services free of charge, and making the full range of its services and infrastructure available to public bodies and competent authorities. The organization has established 10 specialized Action Centers, each aiming at the prevention and effective response to all issues concerning children, young people, and families in Greece: National Center for Abuse and Exploitation Center for Violence and Bullying Support Center for Vulnerable Families, Children and Youth Material assistance (food, basic necessities, school supplies, Christmas & Easter packages, clothing, footwear, household appliances, baby items, furniture, etc.) Provision of essential items for every child (books, toys, etc.) Psychological and medical support (medical coverage, examinations, surgeries) Coverage of other children's needs (therapies, lessons, etc.) Assistance in finding employment for parents Help Lines and Immediate Intervention: National SOS Helpline for Children 1056 Calls to the SOS 1056 Helpline are free from landlines and mobile phones. No card is required from public phone booths, while calls from payphones do not require units. The Chat 1056 application is an extension of the National SOS 1056 Helpline and offers a new, direct way of communication for children who feel safer expressing themselves in writing. Through the application, children receive online counseling and support from experienced psychologists and social workers. Services provided: Receiving daily reports and calls (anonymous or named) regarding cases of missing children (teenage runaways, abductions, parental abductions, worrying disappearances). Activation of the "Thanasis Makris" Search and Rescue Team, with the participation of certified dog handler teams. Activation of the Amber Alert Hellas and Missing Kid Alert Hellas systems. Activation of the Missing Alert App and GmCngine. Provision of psychological support and information to every parent who has lost their child European Helpline for Children and Adolescents 116111 Psychological support for every child or adult regarding issues concerning them National Hotline for Missing Adults 1017 Health Services Provision Center HEALTH SERVICES Since its establishment until today, "The Smile of the Child" has implemented numerous actions for the prevention and treatment of children's health problems. A specialized team of scientists (social workers, psychologists, doctors, nurses, rescuers, and special education artists) supports: Every child patient Every hospitalized child Every child in need of preventive medical services, while simultaneously supporting the child's family. The integrated network of health and social services operates free of charge, nationwide, 24 hours a day, for all children in Greece, regardless of nationality or religion. Services provided: Medical examinations and preventive medicine Voluntary blood donation Medical monitoring and coverage of hospitalization expenses for uninsured children Support for children's educational needs Home pediatric care Recreational activities for hospitalized children Mobilization of blood and platelet donors Accommodation for families with children facing serious health problems Transportation with Mobile Medical Units (Ambulances) for Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Social Polyclinics for children (Athens) Provision of social and counseling support to children with health problems Contact details: 📞 11040 | 📧 medical@hamogelo.gr Day Centers Day Center for the provision of individualized mental health services to children and adolescents. Therapeutic and psychosocial rehabilitation services are offered to: Children and adolescents who are victims of abuse, neglect, or domestic violence Children traumatized by natural disasters or wars Children or adolescents involved in bullying incidents Care Homes Homes for children who are victims of every form of violence — 5 nationwide. They are staffed by social workers, psychologists, educators, teachers, nurses, cooks, cleaning staff, and drivers. DAY CARE HOMES Their goal is to care for children whose families face serious problems (social, financial, or health-related) that prevent them from meeting their children's basic needs.
